The Center for Nuclear Medicine in Nizhny Novgorod will develop with the support of the Russian Federal Nuclear Center.

      May 8, 2026 12:24 Society The Center for Nuclear Medicine within the Nizhny Novgorod "City of Health" will be developed with the expert support of specialists from the Russian Federal Nuclear Center. Such agreements were reached during the working trip of the acting director of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Hospital named after N.A. Semashko, Sergey Gamayunov, to Sarov. During the visit, the head of the medical institution met with the director of RFNC-VNIIEF, Valentin Kostyukov, and the scientific director of the National Center for Physics and Mathematics, Alexander Sergeev. The parties discussed equipping the "City of Health" with high-tech equipment, including PET/CT and SPECT/CT systems. Specialists from federal centers will assist Nizhny Novgorod doctors at the stages of launching, configuring, and servicing the equipment. In addition, the results of diagnostic studies are planned to be used in scientific work. Special attention was paid to personnel training. Based on the educational opportunities of the Russian Federal Nuclear Center and the specialized department of nuclear and radiation physics, it is planned to train engineers, technicians, and specialists in radionuclide synthesis. Another area of cooperation will be the implementation of modern domestic developments into clinical practice. For this purpose, employees of RFNC-VNIIEF and specialists from the two medical institutions of the "City of Health" will create a permanent working group.
