A resident of Dzerzhinsk took nearly 1.8 million rubles from others after calls from telephone scammers. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region.
The fraudsters posed as employees of the pension fund and the police. They convinced a 59-year-old man to supposedly help elderly people "declare" money. For several days, the man traveled to addresses in Nizhny Novgorod, where he collected money from pensioners and then handed it over to a stranger. Of the 1.8 million rubles, 600 thousand were his own savings, the rest he collected from elderly citizens. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the fraud. The police are identifying all those involved in the crime.
