A Nizhny Novgorod resident accidentally burned cars worth 40,000,000 rubles.
On April 29, 2026, at 11:00, incidents occurred at a Nizhny Novgorod enterprise for the re-equipment of cars and special vehicles, where a large fire broke out, causing damage amounting to 40 million rubles. The cause of the fire was the careless actions of a company employee, reported the press service of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The incident happened in the hangar of the administrative building. The worker was inside the cabin of a new minibus intended for transporting people with limited mobility. Noticing the frayed edge of the securing strap of the special chair, he decided to carefully melt it with a lighter.
The polymer material ignited quickly. Melted particles fell onto the seat of the chair. After that, the man left the minibus and did not notice how the situation got out of control.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations explained that at one point, the burning of the strap almost stopped; however, the remaining heat was enough to ignite the seat material. About a minute after the fire went out, it flared up again and began to spread rapidly.
The fire quickly engulfed the interior of the minibus. The employee noticed the flames from the second floor of the hangar. By that time, the fire had spread to the walls of the room and jumped to the cars parked nearby. Firefighters were needed to extinguish the fire.
As a result, vehicles, equipment, and building structures were damaged in the hangar. Six units of special equipment were completely destroyed and did not reach the customers.
There were no injuries as a result of the fire. The person responsible for the ignition is compensating for the damage caused. To date, he has paid 11 million rubles.
Earlier, it was reported that four adults and a child were rescued from a fire in a house in Nizhny Novgorod. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
