The spring road cleaning in Nizhny Novgorod will be completed by the May holidays.

      On April 29, 2026, at 11:50 AM, Society In Nizhny Novgorod, a large-scale cleaning of roads and street infrastructure has begun after winter. This was reported by NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" from the city transport department. With the establishment of positive temperatures, workers are cleaning curb zones, lawns, stormwater catch basins, and gutters. At the same time, they are washing the roadway and sidewalks, tidying up and painting fences, trash bins, and bus stops. Special equipment has taken to the streets: 15 "Chistogor" machines, 72 washing vehicles, 25 vacuum cleaners, 67 MTZ tractors with brushes and tanks, 60 bucket loaders, and 65 dump trucks for removing debris and garbage. For cleaning fences on bridges and overpasses, as well as wheel stops, combined road machines with attachments are used. The final stage of the main cleaning involves washing the roads using special detergents. The central highways, tourist and pedestrian routes, as well as squares with high foot traffic, are prioritized for treatment. As part of the month-long beautification campaign, about 150,000 square meters of pavement have already been washed. The amount of detergent used depends on the level of contamination. A solution of the "Bionord" brand, intended for spring road washing, is used for cleaning. It removes residues of anti-icing materials, tire wear marks, including those from scooters and bicycles, as well as bitumen, oil, and grease stains that reduce tire grip on the road. The use of this product allows for a reduction in the number of washing cycles. The shampoo completely dissolves and is safe for the environment. The main volume of work is planned to be completed by the May holidays; however, deadlines may shift due to weather conditions.
