He reminded that the second phase of the park's reconstruction was completed in 2025. "The work was carried out with particular caution, as the area has the status of a cultural heritage site. Today it once again delights its visitors with green alleys, new active recreation areas, and family walking spaces for children. The transformation of the park area will continue," said Yuri Shalabaev. At the same time, last year, five more public spaces were improved as part of the national project "Housing and Urban Environment." Although their number is small, the total area of work exceeded 12 hectares, which is comparable to the area of the 1st of May Park, the mayor emphasized. In addition, in 2025, the design documentation for the improvement of another significant site, the Avtozavodsky Culture and Recreation Park, was completed. In 2026, the renovation of the 777th Anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod Park will continue as part of the national project, with the second phase of work starting there. The mayor noted that landscaping and greening directly affect the perception of the city. Currently, the maintenance of green spaces is being carried out over an area of more than 22 million square meters, which is twice as much as in 2020. Over the past year, more than 11,000 trees and shrubs were planted, and more than 27,000 square meters of flower beds were arranged. Yuri Shalabaev emphasized that Nizhny Novgorod is among the greenest megacities in the country; however, the demand for increasing green areas remains. The task of the relevant department is to double the greening volumes compared to last year. At the same time, the challenge lies not only in financing but also in selecting suitable areas considering existing restrictions and engineering communications. A comprehensive approach is also applied to the renovation of courtyards. "An essential condition in this regard is to take into account the wishes of the residents themselves regarding the priority of choosing objects for renovation. This is a joint task for the city administration and management companies," noted Yuri Shalabaev. Throughout the year, various types of repairs have been carried out in almost 250 courtyards across all city districts. The asphalt covering was replaced in the adjacent territories of 216 apartment buildings. Compared to 2020, during this time, work has been completed in almost a thousand adjacent territories.
