1000 km of heating, water supply, and sewage networks were replaced in Nizhny Novgorod.
On April 28, 2026, 11:29 Society In 2025, 145 km of communications were replaced in Nizhny Novgorod: 125 km of heating supply networks, almost 20 km of water supply and sewage networks, and since 2020 - 1000 km. This was reported by the head of the city, Yuri Shalabaev, presenting the report on the activities of the city hall in 2025 to the deputies of the Nizhny Novgorod City Duma. "It is noteworthy that last year the number of technological violations in engineering networks decreased by 22% compared to the previous year," emphasized the mayor. Yuri Shalabaev noted that the city administration is also implementing projects aimed at strengthening and developing the city's engineering infrastructure: "In 2025, the construction of 3 new automated boiler houses was completed - on the streets of Bolshie Ovragi, Dalnyaya, and Ukrainskaya. As a result, the reliability and quality of heating supply for existing residential buildings and social infrastructure facilities increased, and conditions were created for connecting new consumers with planned development of the territories." Yuri Shalabaev emphasized that large-scale projects continue in Nizhny Novgorod, the implementation of which will effectively address the growing needs of the city and ensure the stable operation of all utility infrastructure systems, including in the context of intensive housing construction: "In 2025, the first stage of the reconstruction of the Nizhny Novgorod aeration station was completed - the largest wastewater treatment facility in the region, during which almost half of all structures were updated." In addition, work has been completed in the city on the construction of the first phase of trunk networks in the villages of Olgino and Novinki. The length of the laid water supply networks was 9 km. "This not only reduced the load on existing networks but also, in the long term, solved the tasks of providing water supply to actively developed adjacent territories. Currently, activities for the second phase have begun, which includes the construction of another 16 km of sewage networks and the construction of two pumping stations," summarized Yuri Shalabaev.
