Bonds as a foundation: Nizhny Novgorod investors turned out to be more conservative than the average Russian.
April 27, 2026 12:55 Economy Investors from the Nizhny Novgorod region have maintained a higher share of bonds in their portfolios for the third consecutive year. Since the beginning of 2024, the share of bonds in their portfolios has been consistently 10% higher than the national average among VTB My Investments clients. Bonds currently account for 55% of the average portfolio of Nizhny Novgorod residents. This was reported by experts from the VTB brokerage ahead of the VTB Investment Forum "RUSSIA CALLS! Nizhny Novgorod."
For comparison: stocks account for only 20%, exchange-traded funds also about 20%, while precious metals and cash make up 3%. The average investor's portfolio in the region consists of 5 instruments. The most popular stocks are LUKOIL, Sberbank, and VTB. This structure reflects a priority for reliability and protective strategies even in conditions of market volatility.
At the same time, Nizhny Novgorod residents are increasingly interested in collective forms of investment. The share of exchange-traded funds in portfolios has more than doubled over the past year and a half—from 9% to 19%. Clients are increasingly choosing ready-made managed products instead of independently purchasing individual securities. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel.
