Four people were convicted for the death of a 5-year-old child at the Kstovo sports complex.

      On April 27, 2026, at 13:49, Incidents: Four people were found guilty in the case of a child's death at the "Volzhsky Bereg" sports and health complex in the Kstovo district. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      As the investigation established, in September 2023, the former director of the sports complex and his deputy entered into a contract with an individual entrepreneur to conduct swimming classes for preschool and younger school-age children. At the same time, the management of the complex was informed that personnel without the necessary qualifications would be working with the children. Despite this, they approved the conduct of classes without the presence of parents.

      The individual entrepreneur, in turn, allowed her acquaintance, who did not have additional professional education in the field of physical education, to work with the children. Furthermore, she was involved in the classes without official employment.

      The tragedy occurred on October 5, 2023. A five-year-old boy was left without proper supervision and, finding himself in a deeper part of the pool, drowned.

      The court sentenced the former director of the sports complex to five years in a general regime colony, as well as prohibited him from holding positions in public service for two years. His deputy received a suspended sentence of 4.5 years with a similar restriction on working in the public sector.

      The individual entrepreneur was sentenced to four years in a general regime colony with a ban on engaging in activities related to the education and health of children for a period of two years.

      The coach was sentenced to 3.5 years in a general regime colony, with the execution of the sentence postponed until her child reaches the age of 14.
