Volunteer of the Special Military Operation: "Our goal is to defeat the enemy so that the enemy's 'birds' stop flying over our cities."
On April 27, 2026, at 14:33 Society In the Nizhny Novgorod region, recruitment is underway for one of the most modern and promising branches of the Russian Armed Forces – the unmanned aerial vehicle troops. More and more young people are choosing to serve in this unit, seeing work with drones as an opportunity for professional growth and a real contribution to the defense of the country. Many volunteers who have already signed military contracts reported that their interest in drone operation began in their youth, stemming from a passion for computer games. Future UAV operators are confident that a basic understanding of working with drones will provide a solid foundation for mastering more complex tasks during training and in further service in the special military operation zone. "I am a patriot, I took an oath during my conscription service, so I signed a contract. Our common goal is to defeat the enemy so that the enemy's 'birds' stop flying over our cities, and the lives of ordinary people become calmer and safer. I chose the UAV troops because I have some experience. I believe I will learn everything during the training. Victory will be ours - there is no other way! Our grandfathers won, and we will win!" emphasized the volunteer with the call sign "Baby." Another volunteer from the Nizhny Novgorod region with the call sign "Strong" also joined the UAV troops. He has had his own drone since he was 13. The young man taught himself to operate and assemble the drone. Close friends of the volunteer are serving in the special military operation zone, and he feels it is his duty to help them. "Many guys from my circle serve specifically in the unmanned systems troops. We call each other almost every day; the guys talk about their work as drone operators, and they all like it. It’s time to contribute to victory. I am confident that with my experience, I can help the soldiers of our army. Victory will only be ours!" said "Strong." A distinctive feature of the contract with the unmanned systems unit is its duration – one year. For servicemen of the UAV troops who sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense of Russia, a one-time payment of 2.1 million rubles is provided starting April 1, 2026. The monthly salary is from 210,000 rubles. Additional payments for combat merits and for the destruction of enemy weapons and equipment are also established – up to 500,000 rubles. Those who sign military contracts are issued certificates for the provision of land plots in the Nizhny Novgorod region. It is also worth noting that a mechanism for signing military social contracts operates in the Nizhny Novgorod region, which additionally guarantees the family of the contractor 10,000 rubles per month for each child, benefits for housing and utility payments, preschool services, and other types of support. Furthermore, individual support for the serviceman's family is provided. The coordination center for supporting servicemen, mobilized individuals, and their families, based at the House of National Unity, ensures the dispatch of residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region to their place of service. At the same time, the region continues to actively support servicemen by sending humanitarian cargo to the area of the special military operation.
