The quarter of defenders of the Fatherland will be improved at the Novo-Sormovo cemetery.

      On April 24, 2026, at 19:48, Society The management of municipal cemeteries in Nizhny Novgorod announced a procurement for the improvement of the Defenders of the Fatherland quarter in the territory of the "Novo-Sormovskoye" cemetery. This was reported on the state procurement portal.

      The project involves the construction of intra-block paths in block No. 68VZO. The initial price of the contract is 24.3 million rubles.

      According to the documentation, the contractor will need to carry out a range of works to clear the area of shrubs and small trees, uproot roots, and level the areas using manual and mechanized methods. The project also includes the dismantling of existing sidewalks and curbstones with the possibility of reusing certain elements, preparing foundations from sand and gravel, installing piles and curbs, as well as laying geotextile.

      After that, the contractor will pave the area with granite tiles and thermally treated cobblestones and carry out the necessary concrete and reinforcement works.

      All work must be completed by September 30, 2026.

      It was previously reported that more than 20,000 burial sites will be created at the Novo-Striginsky cemetery. However, the first competition to find a contractor did not take place.
