The Central Bank has lowered the key interest rate to 14.5% per annum.

April 24, 2026 14:11 Economy The Bank of Russia lowered the key rate by another 0.5 percentage points to 14.5% per annum on April 24. The decision was made by the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation. The Central Bank noted that the feasibility of further rate cuts will be assessed at upcoming meetings. Decisions will depend on the stability of the inflation slowdown, the dynamics of inflation expectations, as well as the balance of external and internal risks. The regulator's baseline scenario suggests that the average key rate will be 14.0-14.5% per annum in 2026, and 8.0-10.0% per annum in 2027. According to the Bank of Russia's forecast, given the current monetary policy, annual inflation is expected to decrease to 4.5-5.5% in 2026, and in the second half of the year, it will approach the target level of around 4%. In 2027 and beyond, inflation is expected to remain at the target level. The next meeting regarding the key rate is scheduled for June 19, 2026. It was previously reported that VTB expects the trend of lowering the key rate to continue. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel.
