Hockey Club "Torpedo" will receive an ice arena at Strelka in the summer of 2026.
April 24, 2026 12:46 Sports The ice arena at Strelka is planned to be handed over to HC "Torpedo" for operation in the summer of 2026. The general contractor has signed a roadmap, reported the general director of the hockey club, Evgeny Zabuga, at a press conference on April 24.
According to him, after the handover of the facility, the club expects a testing period lasting about one to one and a half months. During this time, a test match is planned, and the venue will be fully prepared for the start of the season.
The head of the club also commented on the construction timeline of the arena. He stated that "the issue has become tiresome." The facility is already 99% ready, but it has not been put into operation.
"The club, unfortunately, does not have a decisive influence on the construction process. But we all understand perfectly well that this is one of the most technically complex arenas in the entire country. It should not be forgotten that under one roof there is not only the main ice rink but also two additional training rinks," added Zabuga.
He also expressed hope that the opening match would be not only a sporting event but also quite significant in terms of culture and geography.
"A serious program is being prepared with the participation of stars of federal scale," said the general director of "Torpedo."
Let us remind you that recently, the residents of Nizhny Novgorod were shown what the arena looks like from the inside. It was reported that test matches at the new ice arena in Nizhny Novgorod will take place in September.
