The size of the Naidenko Environmental Award is planned to be increased to 90,000 rubles.

On April 23, 2026, at 09:24, Society In the Nizhny Novgorod region, there are plans to increase the size of the annual environmental award named after V.V. Naidenko, while at the same time reducing the number of recipients. The corresponding draft resolution has been submitted to the Legislative Assembly. Currently, laureates receive 30,000 rubles. This amount has remained unchanged since 2013 and, taking inflation into account, as noted in the explanatory note, no longer reflects the value that was originally intended for the award. The authors of the document provide for comparison the amounts of other awards in the Nizhny Novgorod region: named after B.A. Korolev — 50,000 rubles, named after I.P. Kulibin — 100,000 rubles, named after N.I. Sobolshchikov-Samarin — 80,000 rubles. Therefore, the draft proposes to increase the monetary component to 90,000 rubles but reduce the number of awards from three to one. According to the developers' plan, this will significantly enhance the prestige of the award. The reduction in the number of laureates is also explained by the fact that starting in 2024, a regional award "Honored Ecologist of the Nizhny Novgorod Region" has been established, which is awarded for significant contributions to environmental protection. It is worth noting that the award named after V.V. Naidenko is awarded annually to legal entities, individuals, and collectives for their substantial contributions to environmental protection. It recognizes the authors and implementers of the best projects using environmentally safe, low-waste, and energy-saving technologies, as well as ecological educational and outreach initiatives. The award is named after Valentin Vasilyevich Naidenko (December 7, 1938 — October 20, 2005) — a scientist, Doctor of Technical Sciences, honored figure of science and technology of the RSFSR, honorary citizen of Nizhny Novgorod, academician of the RAASN, and rector of NNGASU. He led the implementation of the federal program "Revival of the Volga" and several international projects. It was previously reported that another 16 projects by Nizhny Novgorod scientists received grant support from the Russian Science Foundation. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel.
