Almost five hundred migrants were expelled from the Nizhny Novgorod region.
April 23, 2026 08:00 Society In the Nizhny Novgorod region, 496 foreign citizens who violated migration legislation were expelled in the first three months of 2026. This was reported by the regional office of the bailiff service. All those expelled lacked documents granting the right to legally reside and work in the country. Among those expelled are citizens of Cuba, Congo, Ghana, India, Egypt, Vietnam, and Côte d'Ivoire. Most of them were from neighboring countries: Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan. Before being sent back to their homeland, the foreigners were held in a temporary detention center. After the necessary documents were processed, the bailiffs accompanied them to the border crossing points and handed them over to the officers of the FSB border service of Russia. Entry into Russia for those expelled is closed for the next five years. It was previously reported that the head of the migration department in Kstovo would be prosecuted for accepting a bribe from a foreigner. The Ministry of Internal Affairs also reported that during the five days of the "Illegal Migrant" operation, 476 violations of migration legislation were identified. As a result, the courts ordered the expulsion of 127 people from Russia. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel.
