The final of the "Professionals" championship is taking place in Semyonovo.

      In Semenovo, the interregional, final stage of the All-Russian championship of professional skills "Professionals" in the competency of "Artistic Wood Painting" has started. The competitions will take place until April 24 at the Semenov Industrial and Artistic College. More than 20 contestants and nearly 30 experts from 14 regions of Russia are participating: Vologda, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Orenburg, Samara, Sverdlovsk, Tver regions, Sevastopol, and St. Petersburg, as well as the republics of Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Tuva, and the Stavropol Territory. Participants will have to complete a series of creative tasks aimed at testing their skills in various techniques. These include painting a plate-panel in the technique of narrative Gorodets painting, decorating a container with a lid in the "Kudrina" technique, and painting a matryoshka in the technique of Mezen painting. Nizhny Novgorod Region Minister of Education Mikhail Puchkov reported that this stage is the final for participants in the competency of "Artistic Wood Painting" and does not imply further participation in federal-level tests. On the opening day, the college was visited by the head of the local government of the municipal district of Semenovo, Dmitry Poluektov, General Director of AO "Khokhloma Painting" Vladislav Valov, and Director of LLC TD "Semenovskaya Painting" Oleg Korotkov. As noted by the director of the Semenov Industrial and Artistic College, Igor Napylov, the "artistic painting" direction is developing based on a combination of traditions and modern technologies, which expands the opportunities for training specialists for folk crafts, design studios, and restoration workshops. College student Maria Obrazova shared that one of the first tasks was painting in the "Kudrina" technique, which is in demand among employers. Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Nizhny Novgorod Region (United Russia faction) Alexey Stepanov emphasized the significance of artistic wood painting as a cultural code of the region and noted the role of Semenovo in preserving the traditions of Khokhloma. The college plans to develop partnerships with manufacturing companies and create an online platform for experience exchange between regions. If the institution is included in the federal program "Professionalitet" in 2026, a cluster of creative industries is expected to be created.
