The most interesting events are expected on the night of April 22 to 23, when the shower will reach its peak. This was reported by the Nizhny Novgorod planetarium named after Grechko. Usually, at this time, about 18 meteors can be seen per hour. However, the Lyrids are known for their nature: sometimes they unexpectedly "speed up" to 90 meteors per hour. Observing will be quite convenient. The moon will be illuminated by about 34% on the peak night, so its light will not significantly interfere with viewing the falling stars. According to meteorologists, cloudiness with gradual clearing is expected in Nizhny Novgorod on the peak night, closer to the second half of the night.
