On April 19, 2026, a large regional competition for the best reading of the Noble Quran was held at the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Nizhny Novgorod Region among students of Islamic Sunday schools in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      The event was dedicated to:

      - the year of unity of the peoples of Russia;

      - the 35th anniversary of the Islamic Sunday school (maktab) "Ihsan" at the MRO "Tauba" in Nizhny Novgorod;

      - the 25th anniversary of the Cathedral Mosque "Tauba" in Nizhny Novgorod;

      - the 5th anniversary of the mosque named after the 1100th anniversary of the acceptance of Islam by the peoples of Volga Bulgaria.

      The competition was organized by the education department of the centralized religious organization Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      Traditionally, the event began with the reading of the Noble Quran. This year, the Quran was read by a graduate of the maktab named after A. Suleimani, multiple prize-winner of the regional competition Karimov Hamidullo. The dua was read by the leader of Muslims in the Nizhny Novgorod region, Qadi Gayaz-hazrat Zakirov.

      With a welcoming speech to the guests from the entire leadership of the Nizhny Novgorod Mukhtasibat, the chairman of the centralized religious organization Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Qadi, honorary citizen of Nizhny Novgorod Gayaz-hazrat Zakirov spoke. In his speech, Gayaz-hazrat talked about the importance of holding such events. The honorary guests of the event included:

      - Qadi, chairman of the Council of Ulema of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Nizhny Novgorod region Munir-hazrat Beyusov;

      - chairman of the Council of Elders of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Nizhny Novgorod region Myasnur-hazrat Khusainov;

      - deputy chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Nizhny Novgorod region for educational and upbringing work, teacher of the madrasah "Makhinur" Rasul-hazrat Khasyanov.

      Participants in the competition included all 4 courses of senior and children's groups from the maktabs of Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      A total of 9 maktabs from the Nizhny Novgorod region participated in the competition:

      - Maktab "Ihsan" at the MRO "Tauba" in Nizhny Novgorod;

      - Maktab "Furkan" at the MRO in Nizhny Novgorod;

      - Maktab named after "Abdulwahid Suleimani" at the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Nizhny Novgorod region;

      - Maktab "Arafat" at the MRO in Dzerzhinsk;

      - Maktab "Islam" at the MRO "Ihsan" in Bor;

      - Maktab "Islam nury" at the MRO of the village of Kamkino (Mahalla 1);

      - Maktab "Nur al-Islam" at the MRO of the villages of Bolshoye and Maloye Rybuskino;

      - Maktab "Nur al-Ilm" at the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Nizhny Novgorod region;

      - Maktab named after K. Faizhanov at the MRO of the village of Safadzhai, village of Krasnaya Gorka, Mahalla No. 5 of the Pilnyinsky district.

      Each participant, during the draw, pulled a ticket indicating the surah to be recited from memory based on the course curriculum, and then read a specific surah from the text of the Noble Quran.

      The second stage of the competition "OUT OF TURN" involved reciting from memory:

      - for adults and children, reciting from memory the surah from the 29th juz "Al-Muddathir".

      The performance of the students was evaluated by the jury, taking into account the correct pronunciation of letters and sounds, proper reading, the degree of memorization, and the beauty of reading.

      - deputy chairman of the DUM NO for educational and upbringing work, director of the Nizhny Novgorod Islamic madrasah "Makhinur", teacher of the maktab "Ihsan" Rasul-hazrat Khasyanov.

      - chairman of the Council of Elders of the DUM NO Myansur-hazrat Khusainov.

      Jury among girls and women.

      - chairman of the jury - head of the educational and methodological department of the Nizhny Novgorod Islamic Institute of Additional Professional Education named after K. Faizhanov, teacher of the maktab "Ihsan" Gulnaz-khanum Akhunova.

      - teacher of the maktab "Ihsan" at the MRO "Tauba" in Nizhny Novgorod Zulfiya-khanum Khairova;

      - teacher of the maktab "Ihsan" Gulnara-khanum Gatina.

      There was also a counting commission and an editorial board.

      About the award named after Abdulbari-hazrat Muslimov spoke the head of the education department of the DUM NO Najia-khanum Khusainova and based on the results of the competition presented it to the maktab "Furkan" at the MRO in Nizhny Novgorod.

      Let us remind you that this award has been presented since 2017, established by the education department of the centralized religious organization DUM NO.

      This award is given based on the results of the annual regional competition for the best reading of the Noble Quran among students (children's and adult groups) of Islamic Sunday schools (maktabs) in Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod region to the collective of the Islamic Sunday school that has scored the most prize places in the OUT OF TURN stage.

      The event was decorated with creative performances by students of the maktab "Ihsan", who this year celebrate the 35th anniversary of their maktab.

      At the end of the event, all winners of the competition were awarded diplomas and valuable gifts: for 1st place - a certificate for Wildberries in the amount of 5000 rubles; for 2nd place - a certificate in the amount of 3000 rubles; for 3rd place - a certificate in the amount of 2000 rubles.

      All participants who did not receive prize places received a Mushaf (Noble Quran) and a letter of thanks.

      A special atmosphere was created by the hosts, who appeared on stage in bright national costumes, symbolizing the diversity and unity of the peoples inhabiting the Nizhny Novgorod region and all of Russia.

      In the breaks between the recitations of the verses of the Quran, poems about the Motherland - about Russia, about love for the native land, about peace and unity were recited. In their speeches, the organizers and guests emphasized that our strength lies in unity. Russia is a great country where for centuries Russians, Tatars, Mordvins, Chuvash, Bashkirs, Dagestanis, Azerbaijanis, Kazakhs, Tajiks, Uzbeks, and representatives of many other peoples live in peace and harmony on the same land. And today, in the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, it is especially important to remember that the Quran teaches us respect, good neighborliness, and love for one another - regardless of nationality and language. The event concluded with a group photo, the reading of the noon prayer Az-Zuhr, and a festive lunch with delicious pilaf and treats.
