April 21, 2026 17:43 Society 11 medical professionals have joined the "Rural Doctor" and "Rural Paramedic" programs in the Nizhny Novgorod region since the beginning of 2026. Moving to a village, employment in local state healthcare institutions, and a commitment to work here for at least five years guarantee specialists one-time compensation payments. For doctors, the payment amounts to between 1 million and 1.5 million rubles, and for specialists with secondary medical education, it ranges from 500,000 to 750,000 rubles. As reminded by the regional health ministry, the implementation of the "Rural Doctor" and "Rural Paramedic" programs is carried out in accordance with the federal project "Medical Personnel" of the national project "Sustained and Active Life." The winners of the competitive selection have joined the staff of nine healthcare institutions in various districts of the region. For instance, a radiologist has started working at the Bolshie Murashki Central District Hospital, an obstetrician-gynecologist at the Bogorodsk Central District Hospital, and an otorhinolaryngologist at the Vyksa Central District Hospital. Specialists with secondary medical education will work in the Ardatov, Balakhna, Bor, Voskresensk, Vyksa, and Sosnovka Central District Hospitals (part of the Oka Interdistrict Medical Center), as well as in the Makaryev Interdistrict Medical Center. In the Balakhna municipal district, paramedic Lyubov Solovyova has joined the emergency medical service team. She graduated from the Nizhny Novgorod Medical College in 2011, has extensive experience working at the ambulance station, and recently worked as a nurse at the Zamyatin Social Service Home for Children. She explains her decision to participate in the "Rural Paramedic" program and move to Balakhna as a conscious desire to return to her beloved profession in conditions where her professionalism is most in demand. "The payment from the program is a real opportunity to improve living conditions, to take an important step towards stability and confidence in tomorrow. Working in Balakhna means being visible to people who truly need your help. It is a wonderful opportunity to combine a beloved profession with decent living conditions and feel the support of the state," said Lyubov Solovyova. Otorhinolaryngologist Natalia Generanova has joined the team of the children's outpatient department of the Vyksa Central District Hospital. In 2009, she graduated from Mordovia State University named after N.P. Ogaryov. Later, she completed an internship in her specialty and worked in several medical institutions. "My decision to become a doctor was influenced by my mother, who worked as the head of a paramedic-obstetric station. I have known about the peculiarities of this profession since childhood. For me, it is pride and great responsibility. It is always nice to see the happy faces of patients who no longer have anything to worry about," shared Natalia Generanova. According to Natalia, the funds received from the program will be a good support for her in solving housing issues. This will allow her to focus even more on providing quality medical care to people. Let us remind you that the "Rural Doctor" and "Rural Paramedic" programs have been implemented in the Nizhny Novgorod region since 2012. Over the past years, more than a thousand specialists have participated in these programs in the region. The national project "Sustained and Active Life" has been implemented in the country since 2025 by order of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin. It aims at the expected increase in life expectancy by 2030 and involves the renovation of clinics, outpatient clinics, and paramedic-obstetric stations, attracting qualified medical personnel to medical institutions, applying new approaches in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic diseases, improving emergency medical care and rehabilitation systems, developing a network of national research centers, and digitizing the industry. The national project includes 11 federal projects: "Health for Everyone," "Modernization of Primary Healthcare," "Medical Personnel," "Fighting Cardiovascular Diseases," "Fighting Cancer," "Fighting Diabetes," "Fighting Hepatitis and Minimizing the Risks of Disease Spread," "Improving Emergency Medical Care," "Developing Federal Medical Organizations, Including the Development of a Network of National Research Centers," "National Health Platform," "Optimal Medical Rehabilitation for Health Recovery."
