Nizhny Novgorod residents will be able to obtain a SIM card without visiting a communication salon.
April 21, 2026 17:46 Society The digital ecosystem of MTS has launched the sale of SIM cards with the ability for self-registration on the resale platform "Avito." The new format allows users to connect to mobile services without visiting the operator's office. Users can choose a suitable number and connection region online, and then receive the SIM card at the nearest order pickup point. After that, registration must be completed through the "Gosuslugi" portal. Personal visits to the communication salon are not required. The remote sales format for SIM cards was first developed by the "big four" operators in 2020 on marketplaces, including Ozon. In the resale platform segment, MTS tested this mechanism for the first time in 2025. The company noted that about 35% of SIM card purchases are related to the acquisition of a new smartphone. Users often turn to such platforms for gadgets, so integrating SIM cards into their ecosystem makes the connection process faster and more convenient. According to analysts, in the first quarter of 2026, smartphones accounted for 71% of the resale segment. The situation in the Nizhny Novgorod region is similar: residents are increasingly purchasing technology online and are interested in immediately connecting services to their new devices.
