"United Russia" has begun voter registration for the preliminary voting.

      On April 21, 2026, at 12:37 Politics Every registered voter in the Russian Federation, regardless of party affiliation, will be able to choose their candidate for the State Duma. Registration will last until May 29 inclusive. "Everyone can directly influence the formation of the candidate team of 'United Russia', which will represent the interests of people in power. The registration procedure is as accessible and transparent as possible. Participation in it is convenient and safe. We expect active participation from the country's residents in selecting truly strong, responsible, and motivated candidates," emphasized the Secretary of the General Council, Vladimir Yakushev. The preliminary voting itself will take place from May 25 to May 31. The lists of winning candidates based on the results of the procedure will be approved by the Congress. In the Nizhny Novgorod region, 188 candidates for the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region, and local self-government bodies have already registered. Among those who submitted documents are current deputies, members and supporters of the party, non-partisan candidates – representatives from various fields such as healthcare, education, industry, agriculture, culture, as well as participants of the special military operation. "The preliminary voting has been conducted by the party for almost 20 years, and during this time it has confirmed its effectiveness. The open system allows voters to decide for themselves who will represent their interests in government bodies. For candidates, this procedure is an opportunity to gain public support to confidently promote their ideas further. It is precisely in the connection between power and the population that the most important state tasks are resolved, which is why the 'United Russia' party focuses on the choice of citizens and nominates those who are truly trusted," noted Dmitry Filipenko, head of the Nizhny Novgorod regional executive committee of the 'United Russia' party. Let us remind you that 'United Russia' is the only political party in the country that regularly conducts preliminary selection of candidates for deputies at all levels through open nationwide voting and grants voters the right to form the candidate list themselves. Since 2009, participation in the preliminary voting procedure has been a mandatory norm for all candidates from the party. All registered voters in the regions can participate in the preliminary voting of 'United Russia'. The procedure is organized in electronic format with verification through State Services. For several years now, during the preliminary voting, 'United Russia' has supported the fighters of the special operation. For candidates among the participants and veterans of the special military operation, an additional 25% is added to the results in the electronic preliminary voting.
