Nizhny Novgorod residents have been warned about a new scam scheme related to housing management companies.

      On April 21, 2026, at 15:14, the Society of Residents of Nizhny Novgorod warned about a new fraudulent scheme related to the activities of management companies. The information was disseminated by the Joint Utility Operator JSC.

      The organization emphasized that neither resource-supplying nor management companies call citizens or send SMS messages with offers to return money. Such messages and calls come exclusively from fraudsters.

      The scammers rely on people's lack of awareness: they offer to follow external links or enter a code from an SMS. According to them, this is necessary for debt cancellation or refund of overpayments. However, in reality, such actions give the fraudsters access to bank accounts and personal accounts.

      The company explained that all recalculations are performed automatically and displayed in payment documents. Additionally, the annual adjustment for heating has already been made and included in the March receipts.

      Nizhny Novgorod residents are advised to ignore messages from unknown individuals posing as utility service employees, not to follow suspicious links, and not to provide personal information. All necessary contacts for clarification are indicated in the receipts.

      Earlier, it was reported that a resident of Arzamas lost 5 million rubles after an April Fool's call from a scammer.
