Meat production in the Nizhny Novgorod region has increased by 16%.
April 21, 2026 13:54 Economy Agricultural enterprises in the Nizhny Novgorod region increased the production of meat, milk, and eggs in the first quarter of 2026 compared to last year. This was reported by the press service of Nizhny Novgorod Statistics. Over three months, the region produced 54 thousand tons of livestock and poultry for slaughter in live weight. This is 16% more than in the same period last year. Almost half of the volume was provided by poultry — 46%, pork accounted for 45%, and another 9% was from cattle. Milk production also increased. From January to March, farms produced 154 thousand tons — a 2% increase compared to last year's level. More than a third of the total volume came from enterprises in the Bogorodsky, Buturlinovsky, Dalenekonstantinovsky, Pilninsky, and Pochinkovsky districts. The average milk yield per cow was 2164 kilograms, which is 54 kilograms more than the previous year. Egg production also showed steady growth. In the first quarter, the region produced 314 million eggs — 11% more than in the same period of 2025. It was previously reported that the Nizhny Novgorod region plans to increase milk production by 12% by 2030.
