On April 19, 2026, at 11:23 AM, Society In the Nizhny Novgorod region, there are currently 35 fish farming enterprises that produce nearly 700 tons of products annually. This was reported by the chairman of the regional Legislative Assembly, Evgeny Lyulin. Together with colleagues from the Council of Legislators of the Volga Federal District, he visited a farm in the Republic of Mari El, known as the "Laptev Sea," where they breed albino sturgeons. According to him, the enterprise was able to develop thanks to grant support and the persistence of its owners, the Reznikov couple.
The business started with two pools on the site of a former village shop. Later, thanks to a grant, the entrepreneurs expanded production and purchased the necessary equipment. Now the farm produces several tons of fish per year and welcomes tourists from all over the country. Plans include the creation of an agritourism complex with guest houses and a spa center, as well as the release of cosmetics made from sturgeon caviar under its own brand. The rural tourism project "Mari Sturgeon" has already won a federal competition and will receive funding from the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia. Lyulin called this experience a worthy example to follow. "Aquaculture is also developing in the Nizhny Novgorod region. There are subsidies and grants. We have 35 fish farming enterprises that produce nearly 700 tons of products per year. I am confident that everyone has the potential to become a popular agritourism destination – with local flavor, original cuisine, and, of course, amazing fishing," noted the chairman of the ZSNO. It was previously reported that fishing on the Gorky Reservoir has been restricted until June 16. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel.
