A Muscovite will be sentenced for a traffic accident involving an injured child on the M-12 in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      April 19, 2026 10:17 Incidents The investigation into the criminal case regarding the traffic accident on the M-12 "Vostok" highway has been completed, as a result of which a minor passenger sustained serious injuries. According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region, a criminal case was initiated for violating traffic rules and vehicle operation. According to the investigation, the accident occurred on August 27, 2025, at the 391st kilometer of the M-12 highway in the Ardatov district. Driving at a speed of no less than 160 kilometers per hour, a 21-year-old driver of a "Lada" car changed lanes to the right, after which he inadvertently veered onto the left shoulder and crashed into metal barriers. As a result of the accident, the minor passenger suffered serious harm to her health. During the preliminary investigation, the involvement of a 21-year-old unemployed resident of Moscow, who had a previous conviction, was established. He fully admitted his guilt and voluntarily compensated the victim for material damages amounting to 400,000 rubles. During the investigation, the accused was placed under a measure of restraint in the form of a written undertaking not to leave and proper behavior. Currently, the criminal case with an approved indictment has been sent to court for substantive consideration. The sanction of the article provides for punishment of up to two years of imprisonment.
