Access to the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin will be restricted for a day due to preparations for May 9.

      On April 20, 2026, at 16:07 Society Access to the territory of Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin will be temporarily restricted on April 22. This was reported on the institution's page on "VK". The restrictions will be in effect from 06:00 to 16:00. They are related to the preparation and conduct of an open garrison drill inspection and the deployment of personnel of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region and interacting structures. During the specified period, access to the territory will be possible through the Dmitrievskaya and Nikolskaya towers, the arches of the Storage and Ivanovskaya towers, as well as the Kremlin funicular. Vehicle entry and exit will be organized only through the arches of the Ivanovskaya and Storage towers. Additionally, on April 22, from 00:01 to 16:00, traffic will be closed in the area of Minin and Pozharsky Square. The restrictions will affect the square itself — from Varvarskaya Street to the Upper Volga Embankment, as well as Ulyanova Street from Minin Square to Piskunova Street, Minin Street to Museum Lane, Georgievsky descent, and the section of the Upper Volga Embankment from the square to Museum Lane. It was also reported that in April and May, rehearsals for the military parade will take place in the city, which will temporarily close certain streets.
