      Residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region can submit an application through the State Services portal to participate in the open selection for the Roscosmos astronaut team. The service was launched during the first Space Week in Russia, which is held with the support of the national project "Development of a Multi-Satellite Orbital Group" (Space). This digital service is being used for the first time and simplifies the procedure for collecting and submitting some documents to the Cosmonaut Training Center, where a special commission conducts the admission campaign. As reported by Dmitry Bakhanov, General Director of the State Corporation "Roscosmos," applications can now be submitted online through the State Services portal. The application period will last until June 30, 2026, inclusive. Candidates must meet a number of requirements: have citizenship of the Russian Federation, be up to 35 years old inclusive, weigh between 50 and 90 kg, have a height between 150 and 190 cm, possess higher education (specialist or master's degree) from an approved list, and have at least three years of work experience in their specialty. It is also necessary to be proficient in one of the foreign languages — English, Italian, Spanish, German, or French, have excellent health, high physical endurance, mental stability, and no criminal record. To participate, it is necessary to submit an application on the State Services portal and wait for an invitation to the in-person selection stage. Medical documents must be sent by registered mail with notification to the address: 141160, Moscow Region, Star City, to the head of the FGBU "Yuri A. Gagarin Research and Test Cosmonaut Training Center" with the note "To the competition commission for conducting the open competition for selection into candidates for cosmonauts of the Russian Federation." The in-person stage takes place at the Cosmonaut Training Center and includes a medical examination, an interview, physical fitness tests, and verification of education and professional qualifications. The decision is made by an interdepartmental commission. Results will be published on the Roscosmos website and the Cosmonaut Training Center, and will also be communicated to participants personally. Candidates who successfully pass the selection will sign an employment contract with the Cosmonaut Training Center and will become members of the Roscosmos astronaut team as test astronaut candidates.
