      April 17, 2026 09:00 Society Residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region, whose property was damaged as a result of the flood this year, will not be able to expect compensation from regional authorities. This was reported to NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" by the Ministry of Regional Security.

      As explained by the department, current legislation provides for payments to those affected by flooding only when a state of emergency is declared. Currently, only a state of heightened readiness has been declared in the region, which does not provide grounds for compensation.

      At the same time, citizens whose homes are located in areas prone to regular flooding are advised to protect their property independently, including through insurance.

      Earlier, it was reported that witnesses filmed a private house floating in the Oka River. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, it "parked" in a backwater near Dzerzhinsk.
