Nizhny Novgorod residents choose to travel around Russia during the May holidays.

Russian destinations account for 81% of all hotel bookings, reports the website pravda-nn.ru, citing the "Ostrovok" service. The most popular destinations among Nizhny Novgorod residents are St. Petersburg, Kazan, Moscow, Sochi, and Sirius. These destinations are among the top five in terms of planned trips. Most often, residents of the region choose to travel as a couple — this format is preferred by more than half of the tourists. 24% of respondents plan to travel with children. 17% will travel alone, while 6% prefer to relax in the company of adults. When choosing accommodation within the country, Nizhny Novgorod residents more often stay in unstarred hotels. The average cost of a night during the May holidays is 6,500 rubles, which is 5% higher than last year's figure. Every fifth traveler from the region is considering trips abroad. Among the popular destinations are Belarus, Armenia, Turkey, and Georgia. The average price for a night in foreign hotels is 9,800 rubles, which is 3% lower compared to last year.
