      On April 15, 2026, at 15:00, Society The head of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev, held a personal reception for citizens, during which he addressed the appeal of a resident of Kanavino, Irina Varenova – the mother of a participant in the special military operation (SMO). The woman reported that her apartment on Rubo Street is not warm enough in winter, despite the absence of other problems in the building. The family has lived in this house since 2007. Her son served in the army after school, worked in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, started a family, and then went to the SMO. "He said: 'Mom, if it’s necessary, then it’s necessary.' And we are waiting for him to return victorious," the Nizhny Novgorod resident said.

      The discussion involved Deputy Mayor Denis Skalkin, representatives of the Kanavinsky district administration, and the housing management company. They began to work on the issue right during the meeting. Yuri Shalabaev instructed to take the situation under control: "Insulate the apartment, check the heating, and report back to me on this matter."

      Later, the city head announced that he had instructed to organize work on insulating the facade under suitable weather conditions and to check the heating system. He assured that the problem would be resolved.

      Additionally, the issue of improving the yard was raised at the meeting. According to Irina Varenova, many elderly people live in the building, neighbors maintain order, but there are no places to rest in the yard. Yuri Shalabaev ordered benches to be installed. The district administration reported that work had already begun: new benches would replace the old chairs and sofa that were previously in the yard.

      The applicant noted that the residents of the building live harmoniously and do not plan to move, so they strive to keep the area tidy with the support of the local administration and management company. Following the meeting, the Nizhny Novgorod resident was satisfied and expressed confidence that all work would be completed. "The mayor of our city received me, we had a good conversation, he took my issue under control and promised to help with the solution," Irina Varenova said.
