Nizhny Novgorod residents can board a train to Moscow without a passport.
April 12, 2026 09:46 SocietyNizhny Novgorod residents can board the high-speed trains "Lastochka" using biometric data. The technology is implemented as part of the national project "Data Economy" through the "Mihom" service and allows for identity verification without presenting documents.
Currently, the service is operating in pilot mode on trains traveling on the routes "Moscow — Nizhny Novgorod," "Moscow — Kostroma," and "Moscow — Ivanovo."
To use the technology, passengers must pre-register their verified biometrics. This can be done at an authorized bank or through on-site registration, after which consent for the processing of personal data is required.
Identity verification is carried out directly when boarding the carriage using a portable device operated by the conductor. Passengers still have the option to choose their method of identification — by passport or using biometrics.
It was previously reported that Nizhny Novgorod residents can receive services at the MFC without a passport.
