April 11, 2026 14:40 Economy The Nizhny Novgorod region plans to increase milk production by 12% by 2030. This was reported by Deputy Governor Yegor Polyakov on his Max channel. According to him, in 2025, the volume of milk production in the region amounted to 739.1 thousand tons. "The region has been tasked with increasing milk production to 828.4 thousand tons by 2030," he noted. Polyakov added that dairy farming remains a priority sector for the region. As of the end of 2025, the Nizhny Novgorod region ranked 5th among the subjects of the Volga Federal District and 11th in the national ranking for milk production. The Deputy Governor reported that over the past five years, more than 100 dairy farming facilities have been built and reconstructed in the region. During this period, milk production has increased by more than 18%, and the level of self-sufficiency in milk and dairy products has risen from 80% to 88%. He emphasized that the region is consistently moving towards achieving a self-sufficiency indicator in milk at the level of 95%. According to Polyakov, the stable development of the industry has been made possible by high investment attractiveness and extensive government support. In 2026, the total amount of budget funds allocated to support the dairy industry will be 1.67 billion rubles.
