The IV Youth Forum of Nizhny Novgorod Tatars "NizhgarForum" will take place in Nizhny Novgorod.

      On April 11, 2026, the IV Youth Forum of the Nizhny Novgorod Tatars "NizhgarForum" will open in Nizhny Novgorod at the KUPNO.START venue. The forum returns after a long break: the last event was held in 2019 and became the first experience of uniting the Tatar youth of the region in such a format.

      The main goal of the forum is to unite Tatar youth with Nizhny Novgorod roots from different regions of Russia, to form a sustainable youth community, and to create conditions for launching new initiatives.

      Today, there are 35 Tatar villages in the Nizhny Novgorod region, each of which carries a rich historical and cultural heritage. The forum aims to connect this heritage with modern active youth and to form a new generation of leaders.

      About 100 participants are expected, representing more than 10 regions of Russia: Moscow, Tatarstan, Mari El, Mordovia, Vladimir, Ivanovo, Samara, Chelyabinsk, Tyumen regions, and Perm Krai. Among the participants are young people whose roots are connected to the Nizhny Novgorod region, including those visiting the region for the first time.

      The forum's program is designed for two days and combines educational, project, and cultural formats. On the first day, participants will have a plenary session with representatives of government bodies and public organizations, speeches by experts and leaders of the Tatar community, a lecture on the history of the Nizhny Novgorod Tatars, presentations of youth projects and initiatives, and talks on modern topics, including the development of social networks and the application of artificial intelligence.

      A key element will be the project session, during which participants will work on areas such as culture, language and identity, social projects, local studies, media, and public initiatives.

      The final block of the forum is of particular importance — the creation of a youth movement of the Nizhny Novgorod Tatars under the Regional National-Cultural Autonomy of Tatars of the Nizhny Novgorod Region (RNKATNO). During the work, the structure of the movement will be formed, leadership will be elected, curators for regions and universities will be determined, and areas of activity will be fixed.

      The second day of the forum will be dedicated to the cultural program: participants will visit key places in Nizhny Novgorod, including the Cathedral Mosque, and will participate in informal communication at the autonomy's office.

      "It is fundamentally important for us to hold such a forum in Nizhny Novgorod — a city with a rich history and strong Tatar heritage. Our task is to unite the youth, provide them with tools for development, and form a sustainable community. The 'NizhgarForum' is not just an event, but a point for forming a new generation of leaders who will determine the future of the Tatar community in the region and the country," noted Timur Sharafutdinov, chairman of the local national-cultural autonomy of Tatars in Nizhny Novgorod and a member of the Public Chamber of Nizhny Novgorod.

      The organizers of the forum are the Local National-Cultural Autonomy of Tatars of Nizhny Novgorod, the Regional National-Cultural Autonomy of Tatars of the Nizhny Novgorod Region (RNKATNO), and the Trade and Economic Representation of the Republic of Tatarstan in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. It is worth noting that 2026 has been declared the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, aimed at strengthening friendship, mutual understanding, and civic identity among all the peoples of the country.
