Gleb Nikitin criticized the "Conversations about Important Matters" in Nizhny Novgorod schools.
April 9, 2026 08:26 Society The Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, the secretary of the regional branch of "United Russia," Gleb Nikitin, expressed dissatisfaction with how the "Conversations about Important Things" classes are conducted in the region. He stated this in an interview with journalist Yuri Podolyaka. According to the regional leader, it seems that the topics for these lessons are chosen randomly. They seem to "come out of thin air." Nikitin emphasized that the authorities should actively promote an ideology aimed at increasing the birth rate in the country. Such work should be carried out at all levels, including in schools, believes the Nizhny Novgorod governor. One of the platforms for this could be the "Conversations about Important Things" classes. However, according to Nikitin, there is currently a lack of substantive discussion in these lessons. "I analyze the topics, and they seem to come out of thin air. But we can take the ideology — what is important for us to discuss today. The topic of demographics, I think, should occupy 40-50% of the time or at least a third," Nikitin stated. In the same interview, Gleb Nikitin announced that nearly 30% of pregnant women in Nizhny Novgorod refused abortion in situations of choice. It was also reported in the program that alcohol consumption in the Nizhny Novgorod region has decreased by 14.6%. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel.
