Flood Chronicles: New Flooding Recorded in Nizhny Novgorod Region

      On April 8, 2026, 18:19 Society The Regional Emergency Management Agency published operational data on the flood situation in the Nizhny Novgorod region as of April 8. According to the agency, a number of flooding incidents of adjacent territories, infrastructure facilities, and road sections have been recorded in the region over the past day.

      Thus, flooding of adjacent territories occurred:

       in the Vetluzhsky district — in the working settlement named after Kalinin on Lenin and Cooperative streets;

       in the Gaginsky district — in the village of Gagino on May 1 and Kalinin streets;

       in the Gorodetsky district — in the village of Zinyaki on River Street, as well as in the village of Churkino.

      In the Gorodetsky district, more extensive consequences of the flood have also been recorded. In the village of Koskovo, two adjacent territories have been flooded, as well as the buildings of the children's health camp named after Gutsev and the "Aurora" boarding house. A boat crossing has been organized in the settlement. In addition, the territory of the children's camp "Salyut" has been flooded. As clarified by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, there were no vacationers or staff present at the time of the flooding.

      Due to the rise in water levels, transport communication has been disrupted in several areas:

       in the Ardatovsky district, a low-water bridge over the Irzha River near the village of Myza has been flooded — a boat crossing has been organized;

       in the Voskresensky district, a section of the road Voskresenskoye — Bolshaya Yuronga has been flooded 500 meters from the village of Bolshoye Pole;

       in the Gorodetsky district, sections of the roads Moshkino — Konevo and Shadrino — Konykovo have been flooded, with boat crossings operating in both directions.

      As a result of the flood, there are no fatalities or injuries. Evacuation of residents to temporary accommodation points is not required.

      Earlier, it was reported that a water discharge pipe collapsed in the Shakhunsky district due to the flood. It is also worth noting that the flooding has led to disruptions in water supply in Bogorodsk.
