The venues for the "Total Dictation 2026" in Nizhny Novgorod have been announced.

      April 8, 2026 14:50 Culture and Leisure On April 18, the annual educational event "Total Dictation" (12+) will take place in Nizhny Novgorod. This year, more than 50 venues will be organized, including museums and model libraries, the regional Ministry of Culture reported. The text of the dictation in 2026 is dedicated to the childhood of Alexander Pushkin. Its author is writer and journalist Alexey Varlamov, Doctor of Philological Sciences, winner of the "Big Book" award, rector of the A.M. Gorky Literary Institute, and Honored Artist of Russia. In the European part of the country, participants will start writing the dictation at 14:00. Across Russia, literacy can be checked in person at more than 1000 venues. In Nizhny Novgorod, model libraries are traditionally involved, where conditions are created for educational and cultural development as part of the national project "Family." Among them are the A.S. Popov Library in the Prioksky District, the Lenin Komsomol Library in the Sormovsky District, the Y.A. Adrianov Library in the Avtozavodsky District, the F.M. Dostoevsky Central District Library in the Kanavinsky District, and the A.M. Gorky Central Children's Library in the Nizhny Novgorod District. The dictation can also be written at the T.A. Mavrina Nizhny Novgorod Regional Children's Library and the V.I. Lenin Regional Scientific Library. The venues for the event will also open in cultural institutions: in the "Foreign Art" and "Russian Art" buildings of the Nizhny Novgorod Art Museum, the Russian Museum of Photography, the N.A. Dobrolyubov Literary and Memorial Museum, and the A.D. Sakharov Museum. In addition, the dictation will be read at the N.N. Lobachevsky Institute of Philology and Journalism, at the HSE campus in Nizhny Novgorod, the cultural and educational center "Academy 'Mayak'" named after A.D. Sakharov, as well as at the Evenius House, the Architect's House, and the cultural center "Korolenko, 18." Residents of Gorbatov and Balakhna will also join the event in the region.
