A state of heightened readiness has been introduced in Nizhny Novgorod due to flooding.

      On April 6, 2026, at 14:40 Society, a state of heightened readiness has been established in Nizhny Novgorod against the backdrop of forecasted adverse conditions during the spring flood period. The corresponding decree has been published on the official website of the city administration.

      During the period of the regime, district heads have been instructed to organize round-the-clock duty for leaders and responsible officials if necessary.

      It is also mandated to prepare the forces and resources of emergency services, ensure constant monitoring of life support facilities and socially significant structures, as well as promptly eliminate possible emergency situations in utility networks and energy system facilities.

      The Department of Transport has been tasked with timely pumping water from the roadway, monitoring the condition of drainage systems, and controlling the operation of water passage structures.

      The Department of Finance has been ordered to allocate 600,000 rubles from the city’s reserve fund for 2026 to the Municipal Institution "Emergency Management of Nizhny Novgorod" for pumping water from private homes.

      The state of heightened readiness will remain in effect until further notice.

      Earlier, reports were made about flooding in Podnovye. In one of the areas, the water was knee-deep. It is currently being pumped out.

      Let us remind you that, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, this spring, 70 settlements in the Nizhny Novgorod region may be at risk of flooding.
