165 years of the "Russian Coco Chanel"
The staff of the local history museum, as part of the celebration of the 165th anniversary of Nadezhda Petrovna Lamanova, continue a series of informative essays about the life path of the couturier. Nadezhda Lamanova is the most significant name in domestic fashion of the first half of the 20th century. She was a star couturier for titled clients before the revolution, and after it, she effectively became the founder of the new Soviet fashion. In 1898, Nadezhda Petrovna moved her workshop and fashion dress shop from the old address to a more spacious location in the income house of Adelgheim at 25 Bolshaya Dmitrovka. The enterprise enjoyed immense success. It is enough to say that as early as April 1898, Lamanova was awarded the title of "Supplier to Her Imperial Highness Elizabeth Feodorovna," and in 1904 she was honored with an even more prestigious title — "Supplier to Her Imperial Majesty." Today, the Hermitage holds 15 dresses made by Nadezhda Petrovna.
