In the schools of the region, melodies for Cosmonautics Day are heard in April.
In the schools of the Nizhny Novgorod region, melodies dedicated to Cosmonautics Day sound instead of traditional bells in April. The initiative is being implemented by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation in collaboration with the Center for Comprehensive Child Development "Progress" as part of the national project "Youth and Children." Educational days are accompanied by compositions about space and the conquest of new horizons. Schools are forming their own selections from the proposed works. Among them are the theme from the animated film "The Mystery of the Third Planet" (music by A. Zatsepin), the song "14 Minutes to Launch" (music by O. Feltsman, lyrics by V. Voinovich), fragments of the symphonic fairy tale "Peter and the Wolf" by S. Prokofiev, "You Know What Kind of Guy He Was" (music by A. Pakhmutova), "The Beautiful Far Away" (music by E. Krylatov), and other works.
Thematic events are also taking place in educational organizations. At Secondary School No. 3 in the city of Bor, a class hour titled "April Melodies: From the Bell to the Stars" was held for eighth-grade students. The students participated in a quiz and learned facts about the creation of famous songs. The director's advisor on education, Olga Chernova, shared that the composition "14 Minutes to Launch" is dedicated to Yuri Gagarin's pre-launch readiness, while the song "The Grass by the House" is played on the ISS during the crew's ascent.
As part of the "108 Minutes at School" campaign, students compared the duration of Yuri Gagarin's flight with a school day. They were also asked to determine which melodies could be played in May. According to the students, the campaign could be dedicated to Victory Day, and schools could include songs like "Victory Day," "Katyusha," "Cranes," "Sacred War," and fragments of Dmitri Shostakovich's "Leningrad Symphony."
For the first time, the "Melodies Instead of Bells" campaign took place in Russia, including in the Nizhny Novgorod region, in November 2024. The national project "Youth and Children" is being implemented on the instruction of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. It includes federal projects and programs such as "Russia - a Land of Opportunities," "We Are Together," "Russia in the World," "All the Best for Children," "Leading Schools," "Teachers and Mentors," "Creating a Network of Modern Campuses," "Universities for a Generation of Leaders," and "Professionalism."
