Kayaks, storks, and 80 Mbps: digitalization has reached the surroundings of Kerzhentsa

April 1, 2026 14:30 Society Megafon's engineers have launched a new base station and upgraded existing telecom facilities in several settlements of the Semyonovsky municipal district of the Nizhny Novgorod region. After the work was completed, residents and guests of the region can access the network at speeds of up to 80 Mbps. The activities covered popular locations for rafting just before the opening of the water season.

The new telecom facility has strengthened coverage in the village of Bydreyevka, where about 30 people live permanently. However, with the onset of the warm season, the village, located on the left bank of the Kerzhenets River, literally comes to life – here, outdoor enthusiasts begin kayaking along the picturesque banks of one of the most ecologically clean rivers in the region.

Tourists are also attracted by the proximity of the only nature reserve in the Nizhny Novgorod region – "Kerzhensky." More than 250 species of animals inhabit this area, including rare ones: the forest reindeer, the Russian desman, the lynx, and the black stork.

The modernization of telecom equipment also took place near another unique water body – the karst lake Yurevo. This natural monument is famous for its untouched beauty and high water quality. In the neighboring village of Ozero, about 50 people live, for whom communication has become even more reliable. The telecom engineers used the low-frequency range to ensure that mobile internet remained accessible even far from the settlement.

The replacement of old telecom equipment with new took place in the village of Belasovka and the settlement of Fanernoye, located on the right bank of the Kerzhenets. In total, nearly 2,000 people live in these settlements. The operator's engineers added medium and high-frequency ranges in these locations, which allowed for expanded coverage and optimal capacity to serve subscribers.

"The early spring has become a catalyst for the start of outdoor activities and weekend travel. We took care of our subscribers in advance so that even far from home, they could use all the necessary digital services: the State Services portal, banking apps, video calls with loved ones, and navigation, which is especially important when moving outside the city," said Alexey Mikhailov, director of Megafon in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
