The spring hunting season in the Nizhny Novgorod region will open on April 1.

      March 29, 2026 18:35 Society From April 1, the spring hunting season for feathered game will begin in the hunting grounds of the Nizhny Novgorod region. The dates for spring hunting vary depending on the zoning of the region. The region is divided into southern and northern zones, with each season lasting 10 days. The southern districts include Arzamas, Ardatov, as well as Vyksa and Kulebaki, Kstovo, and the right-bank territories of the Vorotynsky and Lyskovsky districts. The northern districts include Balakhna, Vetluga, and Semyonov, the city of Bor, as well as the left-bank parts of the Vorotynsky and Lyskovsky districts. Hunting for grouse (capercaillie, black grouse) and woodcock is allowed:

       in the southern zone — from April 12 to 21;

       in the northern zone — from April 19 to 28.

      Hunting for waterfowl (geese, drakes), except for hunting with decoy ducks, is allowed:

       in the southern zone — from April 19 to 28;

       in the northern zone — from April 26 to May 5.

      In spring, hunting is only allowed for males: capercaillies — by approach at the lek, black grouses — from cover at the leks, woodcocks — during the evening flight, drakes — from cover with decoy ducks, decoys, and calls, as well as for geese and brent geese — from cover using decoys, profiles, calling geese, and calls. The hunting of game during this period is only permitted using smoothbore long-barreled firearms. Hunting without the appropriate permits entails administrative responsibility. In the case of illegal hunting of animals, criminal liability is provided, as well as mandatory compensation for damage caused to wildlife. Let us remind you that the winter hunting season ended in the Nizhny Novgorod region on March 1. Already from March 20, the issuance of permits for the hunting of feathered game within the framework of the spring hunting season began in the region. The document can be obtained at the regional Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife Protection, as well as in its territorial subdivisions. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel.
