Nizhny Novgorod has entered the top 5 cities for relocation for work.

      March 30, 2026 13:26 Economy More than a quarter of Russians are willing to consider moving to Nizhny Novgorod for work. According to a study by the services Rabota.ru and "Podrabotka," the Volga capital ranked 4th in the top 5 most attractive cities for this purpose.

      It is noted that 36% of respondents are ready to change cities if suitable conditions are available. Another 8% allow for such a possibility in the future, while 7% have already moved for work. At the same time, almost half of the respondents — 49% — do not plan to change their place of residence due to employment.

      Among the cities to which Russians are most often willing to move, St. Petersburg leads — chosen by 41% of survey participants. Moscow received 40%, Sochi — 30%. Nizhny Novgorod ranked fourth with a result of 28%. Closing the top five is Kaliningrad — 24%.

      The main incentive for moving to Nizhny Novgorod remains income growth — this factor was noted by 82% of respondents. Almost as many — 81% — chose the point "housing is provided upon relocation." Other important conditions include developed infrastructure (51%), a comfortable climate and favorable ecology (36% each), as well as a vibrant cultural life (27%).

      Some respondents pay attention to the presence of entertainment venues (20%), the presence of friends and relatives in the city (10%), a professional community, and the status of a major industrial center (9% each).

      The study involved more than 3,200 economically active residents of Russia over 18 years old who changed jobs in 2025. The survey was conducted in March 2026 across all regions of the country.

      It was previously reported that Nizhny Novgorod surpassed Rome, Paris, London, New York, and other cities in the global quality of life ranking.
