MegaFon subscribers now have access to the internet at 5G speeds.

      March 30, 2026 12:03 Society MegaFon opens access to the 5G network for its customers: already now, the operator's subscribers can activate "5G mode" and experience the advantages of the fifth-generation network. The service can be activated in the personal account or on the website, and it will be available on modern smartphone models.

      The first areas where the new generation internet is available are popular locations in million-plus cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Novosibirsk. The 5G technology can be tested in the "Hermitage" garden and nearby areas within the Garden Ring in Moscow, and in St. Petersburg along the entire length of Nevsky Prospect. In Novosibirsk, this includes the entire city center, including major tourist locations such as Lenin Square, May Day Square, Central Park, the Novosibirsk State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet, as well as Akademgorodok. Upon entering these areas, users of "5G mode" will be able to use the 5G network if their device supports this capability.

      Outside these zones, the company is ready to provide subscribers with key technological advantages of the fifth-generation network through the new service. The solution increases internet speed for each user by up to 60% and also ensures a more stable connection. To receive such a service, the subscriber does not need to look for a suitable smartphone or a special coverage area.

      The feature is designed for the most active consumers of online content, for whom fast data transmission is crucial. The company is confident that it can provide such a signal level. Therefore, if the services are unavailable, users of "5G mode" will receive compensation for the cost of mobile internet as part of the promotion.

We are confident that this will be a completely new experience for them: now they can enjoy even higher speeds for downloading videos, files, maps, conducting video broadcasts, and gaming.
