Clean pipes – clean water: hydro-pneumatic cleaning of networks in the Avtozavodsky district

On March 27, 2026, at 11:43 AM, the company "Teploseti" (part of "En+ Teplo Volga") is conducting hydro-pneumatic flushing of hot water supply networks in the Avtozavodsky district of Nizhny Novgorod. Over time, deposits accumulate in the pipelines, which can lead to a deterioration in water quality and the emergence of odors. Hydro-pneumatic flushing effectively addresses this issue, ensuring the cleanliness of the internal surfaces of the pipes. This is necessary to provide residents with high-quality hot water.

Before starting the work, company employees notify the management companies of residential buildings about a short-term (2-3 hours) restriction on hot water supply. Using a compressor unit, compressed air is supplied to the hot water supply network. It creates a turbulent flow of a water-air mixture in the pipes, which, under high pressure, washes away the deposits from the inner walls.

For the convenience of consumers, the work is carried out during daytime hours with minimal water consumption. After each flushing, water quality control is conducted: samples are taken for analysis of color, transparency, odor, and iron concentration. This allows for the assessment of work effectiveness and ensures compliance with standards.

A total of 17.5 km of hot water supply networks will be flushed, covering 156 multi-apartment residential buildings. The work schedule is developed based on daily monitoring of water quality at key points of the heating networks and statistics on residents' inquiries. According to the enterprise, thanks to detailed analysis of the heat carrier composition and timely implementation of preventive measures, the number of consumer inquiries regarding hot water supply quality has decreased by 98% over the past 4 years.

To date, flushing work on the supply networks of hot water supply has been completed on 4 out of 26 planned sections. All work is scheduled to be completed by the end of April 2026.
