20 Nizhny Novgorod teachers reached the final of the regional stage of the "Teacher of the Year in Russia" competition.

On March 27, 2026, at 12:09, Society: 20 educators from educational organizations in the Nizhny Novgorod region have reached the finals of the regional stage of the All-Russian competition "Teacher of the Year of Russia – 2026". In April, they will undergo tests, the results of which will determine the seven strongest specialists – 6 prize winners and one champion. The teacher recognized as the winner of the regional stage will have the right to represent the Nizhny Novgorod region at the final stage of the competition.

As reported by the Ministry of Education of the Nizhny Novgorod region, this year a record number of educators from the region joined the competition – nearly 1,250 people. At the municipal and zonal stages of the competition, teachers demonstrated their professional skills: they revealed pedagogical ideas and approaches in essays, solved practical tasks – the so-called pedagogical cases, conducted open lessons and master classes, and underwent pedagogical interviews. An especially interesting component of the competition was the blitz tournament – it included tasks for quick responses to various pedagogical situations and questions.

Together with the ministry, the organizers of the competitions were the regional center "Vega" and the center for supporting professional development of educators and mentoring "Gorky School". The All-Russian final of the competition will be conducted by the Ministry of Education of Russia as part of the national project "Youth and Children".

"Participants of the regional stage represent various municipalities and teach almost all school subjects, including physics, chemistry, technology, physical education, mathematics, Russian language, literature, history, English language, and biology. Among the participants are also primary school teachers. The "Teacher of the Year" competition is an important event that allows identifying and supporting the best educators, spreading innovative pedagogical practices, and raising the prestige of the teaching profession," emphasized Lyudmila Pechnikova, head of the center for supporting professional development of educators and mentoring "Gorky School".

On March 26, a series of introductory meetings began for the best educators of the Nizhny Novgorod region. The first of these was held by the regional Minister of Education Mikhail Puchkov. He shared his opinion on the importance of participating in professional competitions, noting that such events contribute not only to the personal professional growth of educators but also to the development of the entire education sector in the region.

During the meeting, the contestants were able to ask the minister questions regarding the development of the education system in the region in an open dialogue format.

"Our contestants have undergone a serious selection – out of nearly 1,250, only 20 remain. The best of the best, all of them are already winners. On the way to the All-Russian final, educators will face even more challenging tests, which is a great responsibility. Last year, biology teacher Anastasia Kondina from Vykusa School No. 8 set a high bar by becoming a laureate of the final of the competition. This year, we expect equally excellent results from the Nizhny Novgorod participants!" said Mikhail Puchkov.

At the meeting, teachers were also informed about the regulations for conducting the final tests at the regional stage.

"For me, participating in such competitions is not only self-development but also an example for my children. It is for them that I participate in the competition. I really enjoy seeing that they want to help me prepare and train with me," shared Alena Samartseva, a technology teacher at School No. 88 in Nizhny Novgorod.
