Two new medical centers for children have opened in Nizhny Novgorod.

      March 27, 2026 11:12 Society On March 26, two new medical centers for children — "Tonus KROHA" and "Children's Ophthalmology Tonus AMARIS" — began operations in the Priokskiy district of Nizhny Novgorod. On the opening day, an agreement was signed with the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Association of Large Families. As part of a charitable initiative, the clinics are allocating 30 quotas worth over 1 million rubles for a full course of hardware treatment for children's eye pathologies, including strabismus and amblyopia.

      The project has become the first example in the city of combining pediatric and specialized ophthalmological services in one space. Both clinics are located in the same building, allowing parents to consult all necessary specialists in one place. The total area of the center is 900 square meters.

      "We are pleased to present our new project to the large family of the 'Tonus' medical clinic network today. The pediatric center provides a full range of services for children from 0 to 18 years old, while the children's ophthalmology clinic specializes in helping children with eye pathologies," noted the general director of the network, Olga Mikhaleva. Special attention is given to the comfort of young patients. The clinic features rest areas and interactive play spaces, as well as a mother-and-child room.

      The center's structure includes rooms for functional and instrumental diagnostics, physiotherapy offices, and specialized ophthalmological offices for hardware vision treatment. All procedures are organized in an individual format to ensure that the child feels calm.

      In the ophthalmology block, some procedures are organized in a playful manner: for example, in a dark room during a session, the child looks at special images and objects on the screen, turning treatment into a kind of "fairy tale" and helping to reduce anxiety. Moreover, glasses or lenses can be selected right at the clinic.

      "The clinic has 22 working offices, each of which is attended by a specialist. The staff is fully equipped, with doctors from all specialties represented. We work as a team — the patient is not left alone, they are accompanied from one specialist to another," emphasized the chief physician of the clinic, Olga Zagaynova.
