Then, she received a call from a man who introduced himself as an assistant to the military prosecutor. He claimed that the woman was sponsoring terrorist activities and needed to switch to a messenger. After that, she was contacted by someone who allegedly worked for Rosfinmonitoring and informed her that the funds in her deposit were under arrest. The scammers convinced the elderly woman of the necessity to declare her funds, stating that a young man would come for the money. To "secure" her savings, the applicant withdrew 700,000 rubles, packaged it securely, and handed it over, acting on the scammers' instructions. After some time, the woman realized that she had been deceived and reported it to the police. A criminal case has been initiated under part 3 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed on a large scale). The penalty for this article provides for a maximum punishment of up to 6 years in prison. The police are identifying the courier involved in the fraud scheme, as well as the scammers.
