45 hunters and foresters from Nizhny Novgorod received regional awards.
March 24, 2026 16:06 Society 45 specialists in forestry and hunting were awarded regional prizes for high performance and contributions to the development of the industries. The award ceremony for the best workers in the industry took place during the annual meeting of the Ministry of Forestry of the Nizhny Novgorod Region on March 24, 2026.
The event was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Vyacheslav Gorev, the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Evgeny Lyulin, the Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly Denis Bakiyev, and the Nizhny Novgorod inter-district environmental prosecutor Yaroslav Serpukhov.
"The scale of forest areas in the Nizhny Novgorod Region requires a systematic approach to their preservation and development. The region demonstrates significant results in the field of forestry. In 2025, we managed to reduce the number of forest fires by 30%, with all fires being extinguished within the first day. As part of the national project 'Ecological Well-Being', we restore about 14,000 hectares of forest annually. The hunting industry is also developing successfully: there is an increase in the population of wild animals, and measures to preserve the region's biodiversity are being effectively implemented. These achievements are possible thanks to the coordinated work of forestry and hunting specialists, the introduction of modern technologies, and the implementation of federal programs," said Vyacheslav Gorev, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
At the meeting, the results of the work of the Ministry of Forestry and the Protection of Wildlife Objects of the Nizhny Novgorod Region for 2025 were summarized, and the most important tasks were outlined, the resolution of which in 2026 will largely determine the work of the entire forestry and hunting sector.
Keys to three mobile drone management complexes for monitoring forest fires were also handed over. Two complexes will be based at the Nizhny Novgorod Forest Fire Center, and another one will be at the Vyksa Forestry.
Increasing the effectiveness of measures to protect forests from fires is one of the main directions of the federal project 'Forest Conservation' within the national project 'Ecological Well-Being'.
"The successes of the Nizhny Novgorod Region in the field of forestry are the result of a competent combination of modern technologies and the professionalism of specialists. Drone complexes, digital systems, and the professional approach of workers allow us to be among the leaders in the Volga Federal District. An essential factor for success remains effective interaction between the legislative authority, the government, and forestry. Together, we not only preserve but also enhance the forest wealth of the region for future generations," emphasized Evgeny Lyulin, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
Let us remind you that the national project 'Ecological Well-Being' began to operate in Russia from 2025 at the direction of President Vladimir Putin. The new national project aims to care for the environment and improve its comfort for human life. Work will be carried out in several areas: creating infrastructure for waste sorting and processing, eliminating landfills and cleaning water bodies, preserving forests, reducing emissions into the atmosphere, as well as developing ecological tourism and preserving rare animal species. The national project includes six federal projects: 'General Cleanup', 'Water of Russia', 'Preservation of Biological Diversity and Development of Ecological Tourism', 'Forest Conservation', 'Closed Loop Economy', 'Clean Air'.
