The rehabilitation center for visually impaired individuals "Kamerata" celebrated its 30th anniversary.
March 21, 2026 15:13 Society The Nizhny Novgorod Regional Center for Rehabilitation of Visually Impaired Individuals "Camerata" celebrated its 30th anniversary at the House of National Unity. Over three decades, "Camerata" has grown from a local project into a federal-scale public organization, implementing more than 100 socially significant projects across most regions of Russia and abroad, and uniting hundreds of experts and activists around its team.
Thanks to the support of "Camerata," thousands of visually impaired individuals have opened new opportunities and changed their lives for the better. In the "School of Independence," they learned household self-care, spatial orientation, and the use of modern technical aids. The center's programs have allowed blind residents of Nizhny Novgorod and other regions to receive education, access to art and culture, find jobs, and meet like-minded individuals.
During the anniversary meeting, 12 specialists and activists from the center for rehabilitation of visually impaired individuals were awarded letters of gratitude from the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications, the Ministry of Internal, Regional and Municipal Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Election Commission of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the administration of Nizhny Novgorod, and the House of National Unity.
"We have a great team! We do what we enjoy and what is useful to others. We teach the blind everything new, educate them in modern technologies, love to travel, and develop inclusive tourism," said the director of the "Camerata" center, Ekaterina Makhneva.
During the informal part of the festive program, guests were shown humorous videos about the work of the center and the organization's employees, and a quiz was held on the history of the non-profit organization. The blind leaders and specialists of the NGO wrote the script themselves, filmed and edited the video materials, and acted as hosts of the celebration, organizers, and participants in the quiz.
