The project of school building No. 118 in Nizhny Novgorod will be sent for examination in March.

      March 22, 2026 15:21 Society The revised project and estimate documentation for the new building of school No. 118 in Nizhny Novgorod is planned to be sent for state examination again by the end of March. This was reported at a meeting of the Duma commission on urban planning and architecture by the director of the construction department, Tatyana Geraskina.

      The new building is planned to be constructed next to the old school building No. 118 on Narodnaya Street (Moscow District). It is expected to accommodate 990 students in middle and high school grades. There are also plans to build a two-story sports complex designed for 96 visits per shift.

      According to the regional Ministry of Education, the construction of the variable-height building (3-4 floors) is planned to be funded by federal, regional, and city budgets as part of the "All the Best for Children" program of the national project "Youth and Children." The preliminary construction timeline is set for 2028-2030. The cost of the work will be determined after the state examination is completed.

      At the meeting of the relevant Duma commission, Vasily Sukhanov, a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region, who heads the ZSNO committee on urban development, was present. He emphasized that the state examination has rejected the project of the new building of the educational institution with an in-depth study of certain subjects several times.

      The parliamentarian called for the examination process to be expedited as much as possible. According to him, the regional leadership is discussing with federal authorities the possibility of moving the timeline for allocating funds for the construction of the building from 2028 to 2027.

      "For example, we could start construction in 2026 using regional funds, and in 2027 receive money from the federal budget. Because if we start construction in 2028, we will have to adjust the estimate documentation since it will just sit for a whole year," Sukhanov explained.

      Recall that in April 2025, the regional Ministry of Urban Development approved changes to the planning documentation for the area on Narodnaya Street due to the construction of the school. However, in September, its project received a negative conclusion from the state examination. A year later, the project again did not pass the examination.
