Nizhny Novgorod region increased meat production by 20%
March 23, 2026 12:00 Society In the Nizhny Novgorod region, the production of livestock products continues to grow. According to Nizhny Novgorod Statistics, agricultural organizations in the region produced 35 thousand tons of livestock and poultry for slaughter in live weight from January to February 2026. This is 20% more compared to the same period in 2025. In the structure of meat production, poultry accounts for the largest share — 46%. Pork accounts for 45%, and beef cattle for 9%. There is also an increase in milk production. In the first two months of 2026, 100 thousand tons were produced, which is 2% higher than last year's figure. The average milk yield per cow was 1405 kg — 39 kg more than the previous year. Positive dynamics have also been recorded in poultry farming. The poultry population in the region's poultry farms increased by 2% and reached 10 million heads as of March 1, 2026. Egg production increased by 12% — 207 million eggs were produced from January to February.
